Artist’s resale right (Droit de Suite)

Droit de Suite is a royalty payable to a qualifying artist or his beneficiaries each time a work is re-sold during the artist’s lifetime or within a period of 70 years after his death. Under Dutch and European law, we are obliged to collect the royalty and pass it on to the relevant royalty-collecting agency. Royalties will be calculated using a sliding scale of percentages of the hammer price.

EXAMPLE OF CALCULATION (IN EUROS)

The maximum amount payable is €12,500. The amount of the resale royalty will be added to your invoice. Resale royalties are not subject to VAT.

A resale royalty does not apply when the hammer price is less than €3,000.

A resale royalty does not apply if the buyer is a museum with public exhibitions.

Payment of won lots

Won lots are placed in the ‘won lots’ and ‘your basket’ sections of your account. Won lots can only be paid for via the basket. There you can choose your preferred shipping and payment options and an invoice will be generated automatically. Buyers are expected to pay for purchases immediately after an auction. Payment must be made by bank wire transfer (manual payment), PayPal or credit card (Visa/MasterCard). We do not accept cheques or cash. We will not accept payments for purchased lots from any party other than the buyer. We reserve the right to correct automatically generated invoices if necessary, even after your payment is received.

Export and import permits

Buyers should always check whether an export license is required before exporting. It is the buyer’s sole responsibility to obtain any relevant export or import license. Any failure or delay in obtaining a license shall not justify the rescission of any sale or any delay in making full payment for the lot.

Custom taxes

The buyer is responsible for any import tax or payable VAT at import.
